A resolution to drink more water is a smart (and easy) way to enjoy a healthier lifestyle. But limiting your caffeine and sugar intake doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice taste. Water can still give your taste buds a treat. The best water infusion recipes will give your glass some big flavor!

How to Make Infused Water

Great detox water relies on its main ingredient. For us, that’s water filtered by reverse osmosis. When you start with clean, filtered water, all of your infused fruits, veggies, and spices will be so much more vibrant.

Once you’ve prepped your ingredients, place them in your pitcher and fill it with cool, filtered water. Let the water infuse at room temperature for an hour or two, or place it directly in the fridge.

You can even refill your pitcher 1-2 times before replacing your water ingredients. Just remember to keep the water cold for food safety. The ingredients should be removed after 24 hours, but the water will keep for days in the fridge.

7 Tasty Detox Water Recipes

Infused water isn’t an exact science, so you can always customize the ingredients to suit your tastes. For our purposes, stick to a 4-quart pitcher. If you want to fill a reusable water bottle or special fruit infuser for an individual serving, try to use a third of the original recipe.

1. Tropical Ginger Detox Water

• 1 inch Ginger Root, peeled and sliced thin
• 1 cup Frozen Mango, chopped

This combination is a perfect substitute for your morning coffee. The ginger adds a nice flavor kick—let it infuse overnight for a more developed flavor.

2. Simple Day-Spa Infused Water

• 1 small Grapefruit, peeled and sectioned
• ½ Lemon, sliced thin
• ½ Cucumber, sliced thin

Make every day a little more relaxing with this easy detox water recipe. Just remove the grapefruit rind to cut down on any extra bitterness.

3. Cool Apple Spice Detox Water

• 2 medium Apples, sliced thin
• 2 Cinnamon Sticks

The flavors of fall are great for rainy days. (The cinnamon and apple tastes are a great for the kids’ after-school hydration too.) Leave this one to infuse overnight for the best effect.

4. Backyard Bash Infused Water

• 1 medium Orange, sliced thin
• ¼ cup Cilantro, roughly chopped

This water combo is a crowd pleaser when the weather warms up. Fresh cilantro is great with just about any citrus—and this recipe is an easy way to use up leftover bunches.

5. Strawberry-Basil Detox Water

• 1 ½ cup Strawberries, quartered
• ½ Cucumber, sliced thin
• 6 Basil Leaves, roughly chopped

For a fast batch of infused water, you can’t go wrong with the classics. The berries flavor your water almost immediately. Stay with strawberries, or go with a raspberry-strawberry mix.

6. “Berry Beautiful” Kiwi Infused Water

• 3 Kiwis, peeled and sliced thin
• ½ cup Blackberries

Who needs soda when you have fruit? The contrast of colors looks great in glass pitchers. If you don’t have blackberries on hand, feel free to substitute with strawberries or blueberries.

7. Cucumber-Mint Kick Detox Water

• 1 Cucumber, sliced thin
• 2 Sprigs of Mint, roughly chopped
• ½ jalapeno, sliced thin

A pop of spicy jalapeno offers a fun twist on the classic cucumber detox water. Remove the pepper seeds to manage the spice, or add in the whole thing to ramp up the flavor.

When you keep fresh fruits on hand in the kitchen, there’s always a new infused water recipe to try. Just use your imagination and change things up. The right water quality and taste will go a long way for proper hydration.
